Have you ever wanted to write poetry, but you couldn’t find the words? In honor of National Poetry Month, we will be having a Blackout Poetry Slam. Blackout poetry, also known as erasure poetry or redacted poetry, is a form of found poetry whereby participants use pages from a book and blackout words to create a poem. Afterwards, we will read our poems aloud in a fun and supportive environment. Advanced, beginner, and aspiring poets are welcome. All supplies provided. Registration required.
An example of blackout poetry from the book, Hello Beautiful, by Ann Napolitano, pp. 284-285:

I like you. Rolled her eyes.
I’m going to be honest. Start living more.
You poor chickadee. Unhappy on the inside.
Hide messiness.
I want better
