Have you ever wanted to write poetry, but could not find the right words? Join our Blackout Poetry Meetup, an informal creative writing class. Blackout poetry, also known as erasure poetry or redacted poetry, is a form of found poetry whereby participants create a poem by blacking out words to create a new work. Unleash your creativity in a fun, creative, and supportive environment. For those who wish to, there will be an opportunity to share your poems. All supplies provided. No registration required.
(We meet the third Tuesday of the month.)
An example of blackout poetry:
From the book, Hello Beautiful, by Ann Napolitano, pp. 284-285:
Hell yeah. Right on.
Friend. Giantess.
People mistake my height for bravery.
I like you. Rolled her eyes.
I'm going to be honest. Start living more.
You poor chickadee. Unhappy on the inside.
Hide messiness.
I want better.
