In 1952, the experimental artist Harry Smith curated an anthology of folk song recordings for Folkways Records. The albums became a legendry source of inspiration for the first members of the American folk revival, including a young Bob Dylan. We’ll listen to some of Smith’s choices: Appalachian ballads, African American spirituals, fiddle tunes, and much more. Hosted by Paul Howe. Registration required. You will receive a Zoom link before the event.
