Event Details
There are always special activities set up around the library for kids and tweens. Though they are posted as an event on the first of the month, these activities will be available all month long (while supplies last), and require no registration. Next time you're in the kids section, keep an eye open for what we have to offer!
The Drawing Board:
Visit the Drawing Board in the juvenile section for step-by-step drawing tutorials. This month we are still attempting a cupcake: simple but satisfying, and perfect for beginners. Stop by the circulation desk for drawing supplies. When you are finished, you can either take your drawing home with you or turn it into the Information Desk to be hung on the Drawing Board. No registration required.
Which Would Win:
This month we're hoping to solve a compelling conundrum, which would win: Singing every word you speak, or dancing every step you take? Stop by the alcove near juvenile non-fiction to cast your vote and make your voice heard.
Curbside Crafts:
2025 is a blank slate, so accordingly, January's curbside craft is a blank puzzle you can take home and decorate! Kits for this activity will be located on the table outside of the Youth Services office, while supplies last.
2025: A Year of Holidays
This month we're also launching an all new passive program: a year of holidays! Located on the wall next to circulation (across from the holds shelf), this is a monthly calendar that tells you how to celebrate each day. Celebrate 10 days in a month and collect a small prize
What's Good?
There's a winter-themed activity sheet on the Juvenile Graphic Novels endcap. Keep an eye out!
First Chapter Friday
Looking for something new to read but can't decide where to start? Join Ms. Carrie for a selected reading from Kwame crashes the Underworld, by Craig Kofi Farmer. This story is about a boy named Kofi, who visits Ghana and finds himself fighting through the underworld to rescue humanity… with his grandmother!
This program will be available on our YouTube account starting January 3rd!
Mock Caldecott 2025
The Caldecott Medal is given by the American Library Association to the artist of the “most distinguished” picture book published in the US in the previous year. The 2025 winner will be announced on January 27th. Stop by the table next to the self-checkout machine and vote for the book you think should win!
